Exporting Data

Export drawings, results, and reports from ErgoPlanner

Export Overview

ErgoPlanner supports multiple export formats for different purposes:

ContentFormatsPurpose
DrawingsPDF, DXF, PNG, SVGDocumentation, CAD
ResultsCSV, Excel, JSONAnalysis, reporting
ReportsPDF, WordFormal documentation
Project.ergo, JSONBackup, sharing

Exporting Drawings

PDF Export

High-quality vector export for documentation:

  1. Go to File > Export > PDF
  2. Configure options:
    • Page Size: A4, A3, Letter, Custom
    • Orientation: Portrait, Landscape
    • Scale: Fit to page, 1:100, etc.
    • Include: Legend, title block, notes
  3. Click Export

DXF Export (CAD)

For import into AutoCAD or other CAD software:

  1. Go to File > Export > DXF
  2. Select DXF version (R2013 recommended)
  3. Configure layer mapping:
    • Process units → EQUIPMENT layer
    • Connections → PIPING layer
    • Text → ANNOTATION layer
  4. Set scale factor
  5. Click Export

From the Draw page: open Tools > Export to PDF…, choose the DXF card, set the paper size, scale, title block and frame, then click Export DXF. You get one .dxf file with every element and connection in the drawing. With a sheet open, the Current drawing scope exports just that sheet, and Export all drawings exports every sheet together as one multi-sheet .dxf file. If a sheet cannot be exported on its own, the whole drawing is exported and the dialog says so. The whole-drawing export also works for drawings with no sheet views set up, such as the sample drawing. If the export fails, the dialog shows the reason.

Image Export

PNG or SVG for presentations:

FormatUse Case
PNGPresentations, web
SVGScalable graphics

Options:

Troubleshooting

IssueSolution
Export failsCheck write permissions
DXF won't openTry different version
Missing data in CSVCheck column selection
Report formatting wrongReset template
Large file sizeReduce image resolution

Best Practices

For Documentation

  • Export PDF at high resolution (300+ DPI)
  • Include title blocks and legends
  • Use consistent naming convention

For Analysis

  • Export CSV for custom analysis
  • Include units in column headers
  • Document calculation assumptions

For Collaboration

  • Use project packages for full sharing
  • Export view-only PDFs for review
  • Keep backups of project files
