Notifications

A bell in the app header lists the things that involve you personally — a comment mention, a review request, an assigned issue, an overdue HAZOP action — and updates live while you're signed in.

Where it is

The notification bell sits in the top bar of every page, with an unread-count badge when there is something new. Click it to open the panel.

What raises a notification

NotificationRaised whenOpens
Comment mentionYou are @mentioned in a drawing commentThe sheet and comment
Review requestedA review comment is created or resolved on a sheet you ownThe review page for that sheet
Issue assignedSomebody assigns a project issue to youThe issue
HAZOP action dueThe daily check finds one of your HAZOP actions due within 3 days, or overdueThe HAZOP study

Using the panel

  • All and Unread tabs.
  • Clicking a notification marks it read and navigates to what it is about.
  • Mark all as read clears the unread badge without navigating anywhere.
  • Load more — the panel loads a page at a time; this button fetches the next one.
  • A per-kind mute control in the panel header lets you turn off any one of the four notification kinds for yourself, alongside the existing email preference.
  • Clear all, and the dismiss on an individual row, hide those rows in your browser only (see Limits below) — they do not delete the notification.

New notifications for anything above appear in the panel immediately, without a page refresh, while it is open.

Email

Whether a notification also arrives by email depends on your own email notification preference (in your profile settings) and on whether the server has a mail provider configured at all — with neither set up, the in-app notification is still the record of what happened; only the email copy is skipped.

Limits

  • Dismissing is local to your browser. There is no delete on the server — a notification is a record of something that happened — so Clear all and the per-row dismiss only hide rows on the device you did it from. Opening the panel on another device, or clearing your browser data, brings them back.
  • No grouping. Ten mentions on the same sheet show as ten separate rows; only the HAZOP reminder combines multiple due actions into one entry per study.
  • The Unread tab filters only what has already loaded into the panel, not the full unread history at once.
  • There is no dedicated full-page notification list — Load more extends the popover panel itself, which is a reasonable way to skim a handful of items but not to work through a long backlog.
  • Read notifications are kept for 90 days and unread ones for a year before the server prunes them automatically; this does not affect what already shows as read/unread while it lasts.
