Template Customization

After creating from template:

  • Resize units for your flow
  • Adjust operating parameters
  • Add/remove units as needed
  • Save as new template

Template Structure

Included Components

Each template provides:

  • Complete process diagram
  • Unit sizing (scalable)
  • Operating parameters
  • Controller settings
  • Example influent

Scaling

Templates scale to your design flow:

  • Enter target flow
  • Units resize proportionally
  • Parameters adjust automatically
  • Review and fine-tune

MLE (Modified Ludzack-Ettinger)

Influent → Primary → Anoxic → Aerobic → Secondary → Effluent
                       ↑ | |
                       └─ IRR ───┘ |
                       ↑ |
                       └───── RAS ───────────┘

Sizing:

  • Anoxic: 25-30% of biological volume
  • Aerobic: 70-75% of biological volume
  • IRR: 200-400%
  • RAS: 50-100%

Target: TN < 10 mg/L

A2O (Anaerobic-Anoxic-Aerobic)

Influent → Anaerobic → Anoxic → Aerobic → Secondary → Effluent
               ↑ ↑ | |
               | └─ IRR ──┘ |
               | ↑ |
               | └───── RAS ──────────┘
               └─────────────────────────────────

Sizing:

  • Anaerobic: 10-15%
  • Anoxic: 20-25%
  • Aerobic: 60-70%
  • IRR: 100-300%

Target: TN < 10, TP < 2 mg/L

5-Stage Bardenpho

Influent → AN → AX1 → AER1 → AX2 → AER2 → Secondary → Effluent
           ↑ |
           └────────── RAS ────────────────┘

Features:

  • Two anoxic zones for enhanced denitrification
  • Final aerobic for N2 stripping
  • Target: TN < 5 mg/L

Creating Custom Templates

Save as Template

  1. Create and configure your design
  2. Verify simulation works correctly
  3. Go to File > Save as Template
  4. Enter template details:
    • Name
    • Description
    • Category
    • Keywords
  5. Click Save

Template Best Practices

  • Include complete process train
  • Set reasonable default parameters
  • Add documentation notes
  • Test at different scales

Template Library Management

Organization

Templates organized by:

  • Category (Nutrient Removal, etc.)
  • Application (Industrial, Municipal)
  • Size (Small, Medium, Large)

Sharing

  • Export template packages
  • Import from colleagues
  • Cloud library (coming soon)

Example: Starting with MLE

Step 1: Create from Template

  1. New Project > From Template
  2. Category: Nutrient Removal
  3. Select: MLE - Standard
  4. Design flow: 20,000 m³/d

Step 2: Customize

Adjust for your conditions:

  • Influent composition
  • Target effluent limits
  • Available equipment

Step 3: Simulate

Run steady-state to verify:

  • Effluent quality meets targets
  • Equipment capacity adequate
  • Energy consumption reasonable

Step 4: Optimize

Fine-tune:

  • IRR ratio
  • DO setpoints
  • RAS rate
